Who’s Killing Calvert City?
Maker: PBS Frontline

The industries of Calvert City, Kentucky, are in direct competition with one another. A long legacy of chemical production plants in and near the city has lead to toxic pollution in the air and waters surrounding the city. While production industries have brought work into the area, it has also impacted agricultural yields and affected the health of people and animals in the city surrounds.
This PBS documentary makes clear the conflict between economic prosperity and a healthy environment in the context of chemical production. The landscapes we witness are verdant and rural, reminding us that pollution isn’t only confined to cityscapes. Instead, protection and justice for those affected by industrial polluters must be a recognised as an equal priority for lawmakers and protection agencies.
