The film shows the long history of protest and civil resistance that has taken place within the region. in order to combat incoming toxic waste from its surrounding factories. In Ironbound, a community of 50,000 people, there are over 200 toxic waste sites, making the air a potent and harmful cocktail of pollutants. The term sacrifice zone is used to designate the generational harm caused to residents by the consumption that is driving forward production in the area.
