Take a Deep Breath

Jess Chowdhury is a graduate of Production Arts for Screen at Wimbledon College of the Arts. The inspiration for the film stemmed from the Live + Breathe campaign, whose campaign video is also represented in the polluted air collection.

Jess matches the orchestral score of Love SSega’s ‘Capes for Blue Skies’ with scenes from Brockwell Park in South London. The film harnesses playful animation of coloured rice and beating plasticene lungs to match the rhythm of the marching trumpets in the work. Through this juxtaposition of rhythm and space, we get the sense of a world not just recorded, but lived and breathed in.
