Smog Wars is a low-budget documentary capturing the plight for clean air in urban populations in Poland.
The film’s narrator is Michał Konopa, a Warsaw-based father of an asthmatic child. He was spurred to make this film after witnessing the difficulties his child has had breathing in both Warsaw and Kracow. The film documents the particular problems of arctic air inversion, which caused a blanket of air pollution to cover Warsaw in January 2017.
The film collects interviews with a variety of residents, each of whom have their own perspective to offer on the smog. Some dismiss or are rendered hopeless from the issue. Others, like the Smog Alert collective, are taking up arms against those in power in order to create a safer future for their families.
