Smog is a fictional film about a smog disaster outbreaking in the Ruhr area of Germany. Over four days of reporting, the situation worsens: from smog covering the windows of cars, to shutting down factories, civil unrest and mass fatalities.
The film was created to be broadcast on television, and plays with a realistic reportage style throughout. We witness the events unfolding almost exclusively through staged interviews and witnessed accounts on news channels, as scientists weigh in on the situation and protest mounts in urban populations. Upon its initial broadcast, the television channel received numerous calls from concerned citizens who believed the outbreak to be real.
