Brothers Nadeem and Saud are the ‘kite brothers’, dedicating their lives to protecting and saving lives of this majestic bird of prey. Amidst the polluted airs of New Delhi, they have set up a basement hospital where they nurse birds suffering at the hand of toxic fumes, congestion & smog.
All That Breathes is Shaunak’s second feature-length film, following Cities of Sleep which documented insurgent sleeping communities and the sleep mafia of Delhi. It was constructed from over 400 hours of footage shot in the capital, and captures a mix of profound, slow, melodic moments in the nations capital.
The film takes the topic of pollution as a means of pointing towards a deeper ecology, of the interconnected nature of all living beings. It achieved great success on release, winning the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival and The Golden Eye at Cannes in 2022.
